Ireland/Scotland June 2023

Who is ready for an amazing 12 days in Ireland and Scotland?   I know I am!   This is going to be an amazing trip and I cannot wait to see the Scottish Highlands!   This is a perfect way to get a taste of both countries, and maybe a taste of Guinness or some good Irish whiskey.  Who is going to try haggis?

Day 1  Arrive in Dublin, Ireland-  Rest or get out and explore a little on your own or with some fellow travelers.

Day 2 Dublin- After meeting our guide we will tour Dublin seeing Trinity College, St Patrick's Cathedral and then exploring on our own.

Day 3- Kilkenny, Waterford and Tramore- Stop in Kilkenny and see the medieval cobblestone streets.  Enjoy some free time for shopping or grabbing a mid morning snack and coffee.  We will then continue on to Waterford  and later arrive in the seaside resort of Tramore.

Day 4- Blarney, Ring of Kerry, Killarney- Of course we will have the opportunity to kiss the Blarney stone!  We will have some free time to see the castle and shop for handmade items and of course, crystal.  We will join part of the Ring of Kerry and stop for some amazing photos of the Lakes of Killarney from Ladies View.  We will stop for the night in the resort town of Killarney.

Day 5 Adare, Limerick- Before leaving Kilarney there is time for an optional horse-drawn jaunting car ride along the National Park lakeshore with views of Ross Castle. Then we are off to Adare to see this beautiful little town with thatched cottages, medieval monasteries, ruins and a village park.  After our stop here we are off to Limerick for the night. Midieval-themed banquet anyone?

Day 6 Cliffs of Moher, Galway, Sligo- We will start our day with a visit to the Cliffs of Moher overlooking the Atlantic.  Then we are off to Galway which is a popular seaside destination with a great cosmopolitan district with shops, cafes, and bars.   We will stop for the night in Sligo.

Day 7 Derry, Northern Ireland, Giant's Causeway, Belfast-  We will take a drive along Donegal Bay seeing small fishing ports and hidden beaches on the way to Derry. Derry is a walled city on the banks of the Foyle River.  Then on to the Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Our stop for the night is in Belfast where the Titanic was built.

Day 8 Scotland, Alloway and Glasgow- We will board the ferry to cross over to Scotland!  Our first stop after arriving in Cairnryan is Alloway, the birthplace of Scottish poet Robert Burns.  We will stop in Glasgow for the night.

Day 9  Fort William, Fort Augustus, Culloden Morr and the Highlands-  Yes this is what I have been waiting for!   We will follow the "bonnie banks" of Loch Lomond. After seeing Fort William we may catch a sight of the LochNess Monster on the way to Culloden Moor, the site of the famous battle led by Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Day 10 Highlands, Pitlochry, St Andrews, Edinburgh- Travel through the spectacular Cairngorms National Park to Pitlochry, the Victorian mountain resort known for its beautiful scenery. Then off to St Andrew's to see where golf was born.  We will end our night in Edinburgh and maybe see some Highland dancers, bagpipers, and the Ceremony of the Haggis.  I will warn you that I am not eating the haggis!

Day 11 Edinburgh-  We will start the day with a local guide to show us around the beautiful city of Edinburgh visiting both the New Town and the Old Town where will see Edinburgh Castel and get to see Scotland's Crown Jewels.  You will have the afternoon to yourself to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 12 - Today we say goodbye and return to the US.

The tour includes 11 breakfasts and 4 dinners.

You can add pre/post nights if you need more time to explore!

 

Prices are for land only.

Twin room with double occupancy $2,169 per person.   Single supplement is  $460.  Triple rooms are subject to availability.

Travel Protection can be purchased through the tour company for $249 per person or I can quote you a separate policy.

Flights can be booked on your own or added to the tour.

The deposit is non-refundable and due at the time of booking.  For land only the deposit is $250 per person.  Add an additional $250 if you would like air added to your tour.   Final payments are due 70 days before departure.
